Faith Communities ForumThis website is managed by the Waltham Forest Faith Communities Forum. Membership of the Foum is open to representatives from each of Waltham Forests religious organisations. Each year the core group is elected at the AGM to coordinate inter-faith activities within the Borough with the assistance of the employed Faith Communities Ambassador. Inter Faith Walk - Friendship Pilgrimage
On the 30th July this year, residents from Waltham Forest will be taking to the streets of the borough. Curiously though, it will not be attended by angry mobs or rioters, or even the peaceful protestors we have come to expect in these days of dissent. Rather, it will be a picture of serenity – a celebration of the wonderful diversity of faiths in the borough. The Waltham Forest Friendship Pilgrimage will be one of the first of its kind to take place in this part of the capital. The walk will bring together communities from around the borough under the banner of unity in diversity, to share their personal faith journeys and visit the some places of worship dotted over the area.
Convening in the morning at the Karpavinayagar Hindu Temple on Bedford Rd (Walthamstow) pilgrims will stop at various religious sites, before heading to the Noor Ul Islam Mosque (Leyton) for lunch, where they will be joined by the Mayor of Waltham Forest. After a short respite, they will head onwards and finish in time for evening prayers and supper at the Sikh Sangat Gurudwara, on Francis Rd, Leyton.
The walk is Family Friendly and all are welcome to join at any point in the day. For catering purposes, please register your interest by email to winwalk2011@yahoo.co.uk

Inter Faith Week
Interfaith week is a national initiative being introduced in November 2009.
Locally, activities are being coordinated by The Faith Communities Forum with financial support from the council.
We want as many religious organisations as possible to get involved. Some of our initial ideas include:
- Topical debates (e.g. Is there a God?)
- Sport events (e.g. Interfaith football tournaments)
- Religious buildings open day with guided tours
- Sharing food together
