There are no Buddhist Centres in Waltham Forest. There is however a large and growing Buddhist community following different Buddhist traditions. Some of these communities meet locally at organised meetings others meet outside the borough.
There are two temples in Walthamstow whose teachings are based on Tao, Buddhism and Confucianism.
Waltham Forest Faith Communities Forum appoints one Buddhist Representative. The Buddhist Representative is Wendy Smith. Nominations for this position will be accepted in 2019.

SGI: SOKA GAKI INTERNATIONAL
Buddhist practice based on the teachings of the 13th century Japanese sage, Nichiren Daishonin. There are groups in Walthamstow Central, Lloyd Park Walthamstow, Leyton, Leytonstone and Chingford all providing a schedule of meetings for study, discussion or providing an opportunity to chant together. EAST LONDON SITTING GROUP
The group meet in Walthamstow on the 1st Sunday and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7.15 – 8.45pm. The group is peer led with members taking turns in facilitating. Meetings include silent meditation and a discussion or talk on Dharma.
I KUAN TAO
Originating in China and led by Master Wang, teachings are based on Tao, Buddhism and Confucianism. There are Lectures, Blessing ceremonies, prayers and meditation classes.

CONFUCIOUS AND TAO ASSOCIATION UK
The charity describes its activities as seminars on the teachings of Buddhism, Confucius and the Great Tao to the public. It serves as a place for the local Chinese community to meet.

In Waltham Forest we have a Tibetan Community of approximately 60 residents. In September 2018 Tibetan Democracy Day was commemorated for the first time with our Tibetan buddhist community at Waltham Forest Town Hall. This was the 58th anniversary of Tibetan democracy bestowed by His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
